Try the builder on this page
This wiki page hosts an interactive Spell Builder component—injected by the site for the tools/spell-builder route—where you drag Memories and base spell forms into a Watcher’s Heart layout without entering combat. The interactive UI appears on this page above or below this guide text depending on layout; scroll to find the canvas widget, then return here for planning theory when tooltips feel ambiguous.
Use the builder when you want to answer “If I move Inner Storm one row, what breaks?” without paying a run’s opportunity cost. It mirrors the directional rule from Triggers & Modifiers: modifiers affect the spell or trigger directly above them.
Who should use the Spell Builder
Demo players after the in-game tutorial—mock a boss spell and clear spell before Therakan.
Early Access players August 11, 2026 onward—snapshot layouts before 100+ Memories overwhelm note-taking.
Build theory readers following Archetypes—validate canvas sketches before farming Altar seals.
Community contributors—share reproducible layouts when reporting balance feedback to Borealys Discord.
Skip the builder during your first hour; the in-game Heart tutorial teaches muscle memory better.
Step-by-step usage
- Open this page and locate the interactive builder widget.
- Pick a base spell form (demo: four core forms; EA: up to sixteen unlocked via Altar).
- Add Memories from the tool’s palette—prioritize names you already unlocked in your save.
- Drag rows to reorder triggers and modifiers; watch parent-child direction after each move.
- Duplicate a second spell slot if the tool exposes dual Heart planning—assign boss vs clear roles per Beginner builds.
- Mark focus requirements if a Memory needs focus points—note matching Relics from Relics guide when the builder cannot simulate inventory.
- Screenshot or copy the final layout before launching a run from Azimuth Temple.
- Verify in-game—tooltips are authoritative; wiki tools lag patches occasionally.
Planning theory: two spells, two jobs
The builder shines when you enforce role separation:
Boss spell — consistent hit profile, sustained damage, minimal self-hazard. Example skeleton: Boomerang base → Inner Storm trail → optional Cruel Thorns on hit only if returns connect.
Clear spell — trails, spawns, or spirals for packs. Example: spawn form → Rolling Stone on spawn → Destructive Path under a spiral trigger once unlocked.
Duplicating the same trail on both slots looks pretty in the builder and fails Luciame wind-and-fire checks in practice.
Planning theory: modifier order drills
Run these mental tests on every builder layout:
Trail ownership — After one simulated cast, which entity carries fire or lightning ground effects? If the answer surprises you, reorder.
Trigger connectivity — On-hit triggers (Cruel Thorns) require parent spells that actually hit. Beam spells that miss mobile targets waste rows.
Static pacing — Inner Storm under the correct parent builds static; under the wrong child it decorates the wrong proc. Lightning builds depend on this discipline.
Orbit risk — Self-centered and advanced orbit Memories belong in builder experiments marked “post-Therakan” until dash mastery is proven.
Element diversity — If mixing elements for Manifest of Democratization bonuses, count distinct tags in the builder and confirm a Relic or Memory rewards diversity—see Elements.
Focus points and slot limits
Some Memories require focus points per spell slot—a system dev streams demonstrate alongside Watcher Link major Relics. The builder may grey out focus-locked Memories; label layouts with “needs focus major” so you path elite nodes on the adventure map accordingly.
Canvas slot caps rise via Lotus and Altar—see Lotus progression. Mocking five-modifier chains in the builder before unlocking slots sets unrealistic expectations. Match slot count to your save.
From builder to live run
Recommended loop:
- Builder layout at Azimuth between runs
- Commit on in-game Heart
- Test on low-risk Ash Forest nodes
- Promote to boss duty after connect rate feels stable
- Adjust builder after wipes—one row change at a time
Pair with Memory tier list when choosing which names to add from shop rewards mid-run—tier list picks candidates; builder validates fit.
Common builder mistakes
Chasing streamer five-trail monstrosities without focus Relics or slot upgrades.
Ignoring defensive Relic notes on glass layouts.
Treating builder output as permanent—run drafts still change when shops offer fixing Memories.
Skipping in-game tooltip reread after drag—visual order can lie if palette uses abbreviated labels.
Never updating snapshots after EA patches—June 2026 demo additions like Pressure Buildup invalidated old plans.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers Watchers ask before and after Early Access.
Where is the interactive Spell Builder?
On this page. The site injects the component for tools/spell-builder—scroll to the canvas widget above or below this guide.
Does the builder match in-game behavior?
It follows demo/EA ordering rules from public footage. Always confirm final layouts with in-game Watcher's Heart tooltips after patches.
Can I plan two spells at once?
Yes when the widget exposes dual slots. Assign boss and clear roles per [Beginner builds](/builds/beginner/).
Why do some Memories not slot?
Focus requirements or slot caps may block them. Note needed Relics or Lotus/Altar upgrades from [Items](/items/) and [Lotus progression](/guides/lotus-progression/).
Should I use the builder before Early Access launch?
Yes if you played the demo—snapshot Therakan-safe layouts before 100+ new Memories arrive August 11, 2026.
